Every school has high-quality and diverse teachers
and leaders.
Pillar 2 aims to recruit, support, and retain a high-quality and diverse workforce of teachers and school
leaders across Maryland. By improving compensation, establishing a career ladder that promotes
educator growth, and expanding opportunities for collaboration and professional learning during the
school day, the state is developing a strong pipeline of teacher leaders committed to delivering highquality instruction to all students.
