Introduction
Maryland’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) system prepares students for
postsecondary success and high-demand careers through rigorous, hands-on learning
that integrates academic knowledge, technical skills, and real-world experience. CTE plays
a vital role in strengthening local communities and supporting Maryland’s economy.
This CTE Impact Report showcases stories from Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and
Community Colleges across the state, highlighting how Maryland’s CTE system is
delivering results for students, families, and communities. These stories are grounded in
Maryland’s five CTE Core Values4Belonging, Career Relevance, Innovation, Excellence, and
Collaboration4which together drive a shared commitment to student success. Students
learn in inclusive environments, engage in instruction aligned to industry-recognized
credentials, and benefit from innovative teaching approaches and strong partnerships with
employers and postsecondary institutions.
Collectively, these Core Values advance the goals of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future,
including the expectation that at least 45% of students graduate having earned an
industry-recognized credential or completed a registered apprenticeship. The successes
highlighted in this report4credential attainment, youth apprenticeships, innovative
partnerships, and transformational learning experiences4demonstrate the impact of a
CTE system anchored in belonging and driven by purpose.
Together, Maryland’s educators, workforce partners, and community stakeholders are
building high-quality career pathways that promote equity, meet workforce needs, and
prepare every learner for a strong and successful future.
