Career Coaching Sparks Early Interest and Enrollment Growth at CTC
FCPS Career Coaches are expanding career awareness earlier than ever by introducing
students to Career and Technology Center (CTC) pathways as early as sixth grade. Their
outreach plays a pivotal role in not only increasing understanding of CTC opportunities but also
inspiring more students to explore programs through shadowing experiences and formal
applications.
Career Coaches organize field trips to CTC, bring CTC student ambassadors into middle and
high schools, offer preparation sessions for shadow visits, and provide hands-on guidance
throughout the application process. Thanks to these strategic and personalized efforts, FCPS
saw a 20% increase in CTC applications from 2024 to 2025, demonstrating the powerful impact
of early engagement and consistent support.
