Montgomery County
Educators Rising Expands Across MCPS, Growing the Next Generation of
Teachers
Montgomery County Public Schools has rapidly expanded participation in the Career
and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) Educators Rising (Ed Rising), strengthening
pathways for students interested in education careers. In the 2023324 school year, two
schools4Clarksburg High School and James Hubert Blake High School4participated in
Ed Rising and represented MCPS at the National Conference in Washington, D.C. This
year, the CTSO grew to six schools, adding Seneca Valley, Springbrook, John F. Kennedy,
and Sherwood high schools. A total of 85 students competed at the Ed Rising State
Conference at Towson University, with several advancing toward qualification for the
National Conference in Orlando, Florida. Strategic use of Perkins funding, coupled with
targeted support from MSDE, made this significant expansion possible, dramatically
increasing student access to leadership development and educator career pathways.
